About Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, work in a comparable way. In the UK, their use is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), read together with the UK GDPR. Under PECR, we can only use non-essential cookies and similar technologies with your consent.
Babiha uses very few of these, and we do not use them to track you across other websites.
1. Strictly Necessary Cookies
These are essential for the platform to work — principally to keep you securely signed in. They do not require consent because the service you have asked for cannot be provided without them.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Keeps you securely signed in (authentication session) | Session / login |
2. Functional Storage (Not Cookies)
We store two small preferences in your browser's local storage rather than in cookies. They stay on your device until you clear them and are not sent to any third party.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| babiha-cookie-consent | Remembers your cookie choices | Until cleared |
| theme | Remembers your light/dark theme preference | Until cleared |
3. Analytics and Error Monitoring
To understand how the site is used we use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, and to detect and diagnose faults we use Sentry error and performance monitoring. How your choice applies depends on where the processing happens:
- In your browser (consent required): analytics, performance tracing and session replay are switched off by default and only load after you grant analytics consent. Until then, none of this code runs in your browser and nothing is stored on your device for these purposes. These tools do not rely on cookies to track you across sites.
- On our servers (legitimate interest): to keep the service reliable and secure, our server-side error monitoring records technical diagnostics when a fault occurs on our own infrastructure. This runs on our servers, not in your browser — it places nothing on your device and is not controlled by the cookie banner — and personal data is minimised and scrubbed before any report is sent. You can object to this processing as described in our Privacy Policy.
4. Marketing
Babiha does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies. The cookie banner includes a marketing category so that, if this ever changes, it will remain off unless you choose to turn it on.
5. Managing Your Choices
When you first visit, a banner lets you accept all, allow only essential, or customise your choices — declining is as easy as accepting, and non-essential items default to off. You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though blocking the strictly necessary cookie will prevent you from signing in.
6. More Information
For how we handle personal data more broadly, see our Privacy Policy. Questions about cookies can be sent to privacy@babiha.care or our Data Protection Lead at dpo@babiha.care.
Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date.
